After serving some 23 years in the military’s Royal Military Police/Special Investigation Branch, David left the service and joined the then Argyll Stores Group who in 1987 bought the UK arm of American owned Safeway Inc.
In the newly created Safeway Stores plc he held various senior security positions initially setting up Safeway’s distribution security function before heading up the retail element of the security division. David then became Director of the security division being responsible for both corporate and operational security. He left Safeway in June 2004 after the takeover of the Group by Morrison Supermarkets.
David is a director of Daro Associates Ltd who specialise in security risk consultancy and is currently a non-executive director with Lodge Service International who provide specialist security services to the retail and supply chain industries.
David has been involved with several industry bodies serving as Chairman of the Food & Drink Security Association (FDSA); Board Director of the Scottish Business Crime Centre (SBCC), member of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) crime committee and is a Founder Member of the Guild of Security Professionals.
Daro Associates is headed up by a team of professional individuals all of whom bring their own individual specialist expertise and experience within the field of security and risk.
Roger commenced his security career as an alarm engineer, progressing into sales and for several years was responsible for systems design and technical sales with two large PLC security companies. He subsequently moved into senior management and gained a business degree.
In 1994 he acquired a major shareholding in a national NACOSS / ISO 9002 certificated security business until it was sold to OCS in 1997 remaining with OCS until forming Daro Associates Ltd in 2004 together with David Parker. He has experience in an extensive range of sectors including Financial, Healthcare, Institutional, Corporate, Museums, Retail through to Governmental.
